Sounds of Secret Records

by Jesse Paul Miller

Secret Records were a sculptural sound related project created by Jesse Paul Miller in 1995.

In 1998, a full length CDR of the sounds of these objects
was created for listening purposes, in installation environments.

This is the first time of the sounds of Secret Records is made publicly available. This full length document is divided into 6 parts.

Secret records are hand-made sculptural resin castings using found vinyl lp records as a source mould.

Each of these discs contain found objects embedded within the resin.

Each one is unique in appearance and source mould.

Secret Records directly capture the grooves of the source record, giving these objects inverted grooves.

Most of these are playable.

There were 250 of these objects created.

They were displayed in groupings on walls, or on phonograph players.

They have been exhibited in museums, galleries, and record shops in USA, Japan, and Indonesia.

These sounds were made available in a listening station.

The sounds of the grooves were captured by playing multiple
Secret Records, one after another, using a phonograph turntable.

There is no over tracking or editing of these sounds.

They are presented as they are, captured from these objects.

There is also a limited edition CDr available of this release in Merch.
